Medium-sized offices can greatly benefit from a multifunction color laser printer that does it all, but larger offices will appreciate the savings of consolidating functions as well as its expandability. The Lanier LD620C comes with printing and copying at up to 20 pages per minute, and faxing can be added as well.

The base model of the LD620C measures 33.3x23.2x26.7 inches and weighs 220.5 pounds (including the Lanier LD620C printer toner supplies) so it can't exactly be considered compact. It comes with two input paper trays of 250 sheets each, and a bypass tray that can hold up to 100 sheets of alternative media. Its maximum paper capacity is 1,600 sheets, however, so it can handle higher volumes.

Duplexing is included for easy two-sided printing, and the 50-sheet automatic document feeder is reversible, for two-sided scanning and copying as well. A 160 GB hard drive is included so that the machine can act as a document server: storing and serving up digital files across the network for users with proper access. Users can even print from mobile phones or other devices by simply forwarding a document to a unique email address, to be printed automatically.

With four colors of Lanier LD620C toner cartridges to replace, the unit can be expensive to operate. The design of the replacement toners is cylindrical for easy insertion, and each Lanier LD620C toner cartridge can provide up to 9,500 pages or more. Even using compatible Lanier LD620C toner over OEM options still results in a fairly high cost per page, however.

Busy office environments will love the way the Lanier LD620C wraps up multiple functions into a robust machine that can manage digital documents and provide color output. Those who will do a lot of printing might find its operating costs too high for their budget, though.
