This Lanier printer contains an 80 GB hard drive and a 533 MHz processor, which allows the unit to produce multi-page jobs at an efficient rate. There is a maximum RAM of 768 MB that can be obtained with the addition of memory that is sold separately. There is an automatic duplex printing feature that provides double-sided printing on paper and can cut media costs in half if used on a regular basis.

When printing black-and-white standard documents, the Lanier LD238c toner can produce a resolution of 600x600 dpi while the maximum resolution is 1200x1200 dpi in color. There are four colors of printer toner- cyan, magenta, yellow and black. The color toners can produce as many as 10,000 prints before running out. The black Lanier LD238c toner cartridge has a maximum capacity of 19,000 pages before replacements will be needed. OEM replacements are reasonably affordable, but the economical option is remanufactured Lanier LD238c toner cartridges. These will deliver the same performance for a much lower cost.

The color laser printer, copier, scanner and fax machine are all stuffed into a 260 pound machine with a frame of approximately 26x28x34 inches. The LD238c can connect to a single PC via USB or parallel port. The ethernet interface allows networking, and the optional Bluetooth connection gives users the opportunity to use the Lanier LD238c without wires.
