Though the Kyocera-Mita FS-C5020 may not come with a plethora of features upfront, what it does come with is dependability and add-on features that will appease growing offices. Networking, automatic duplex printing and additional paper trays can all be added to the base color laser model, making the FS-C5020 a custom machine, fitting the needs of different offices. Weighing 48.6 pounds, it will feel a little heavy, but it still maintains a relatively compact size of 13.6x18.5x15.2 inches. Windows, Novell, Mac and Unix operating systems are all compatible with this unit. It uses four high-yielding Kyocer-Mita FS-C5020 toner cartridges and the machine itself can print up to 85,000 pages every month, requiring little maintenance.

One problem with this unit, though, are its slower-than-average speeds. It takes around 80 seconds to start-up, and the first page out time is 16 seconds for both color and monochrome prints. When printing with any color of printer toner, up to 17 pages per minute can be printed. Most laser printers on the market these days have more efficient speeds and many offices will find that the FS-C5020 lags behind the competition. However, for users that don't print a lot of documents at one time, it should do just fine.

Four Kyocera-Mita FS-C5020 toner cartridges are used in conjunction with this model, and they are filled with either black, cyan, magenta or yellow printer toner. All the toners help create resolutions as high as 600x600 dpi. The Kyocera-Mita FS-C5020 toner will produce up to 8,000 pages before expiring, and replacements can easily be found online. Compared to the competition, the Kyocera-Mita FS-C5020 toner is much more affordable, and for an even less expensive price, remanufactured toner is also available. Though the Kyocera-Mita brand might not be the most well-known out there, it will prove to be one of the best.
