The Kyocera Mita TASKalfa 255 is a multifunction laser printer that doesn't try to achieve the fastest speeds in its class, at only 25 pages per minute, but it wraps a lot of great functionality into one affordable package. It can copy, print, scan, and offers optional faxing, and the Kyocera Mita 255 printer toner supplies are some of the most cost-effective in its category.

The 255 starts out pretty simple in its basic configuration, but with a maximum monthly duty cycle of 40,000 pages per month, it is ready to be upgraded and expanded when necessary. The standard paper supply includes a 500-sheet drawer and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray for alternate media. Up to two more 500-sheet drawers can be added, however, bringing the total input paper capacity to an impressive 1,600 sheets.

The main resolution mode is 600x600 dpi, but a "Fast 1200" mode approximates a 1200 dpi resolution for sharper prints. Scanning and copying are limited to 600 dpi, however. The unit comes with an ethernet port for easy connection to a network, and a USB port for a direct connection, as well as two USB host ports for connecting a flash drive or other storage device.

The Kyocera Mita 255 toner cartridge included with the machine provides only 3,000 pages. Replacement TASKalfa 255 toner cartridges have yields of up to 15,000 pages each and the large capacity of TASKalfa 255 toner supplies gives them a low cost per page. Compatible toners can be purchased from third-party vendors at much lower prices than OEM supplies.

With four functions and a roomy paper supply, the TASKalfa 255 is ready to tackle the workload of a small office right out of the box. As needs grow, its expansion options become even more important, as well the low cost of Kyocera Mita 255 toner.
