The Kodak EasyShare 5100 is an all-in-one color inkjet printer that can print, scan and copy. It has fast print speeds of up to 32 pages per minute in black and 30 pages per minute in color, and it even supports borderless 4x6 prints for photo enthusiasts. The device uses a 2-cartridge printer ink system, and Kodak 5100 ink is very affordably-priced.

Kodak models are generally designed for photo printing, and the 5100 is no exception. It produces high-quality photos on a variety of different media types, including glossy and borderless, but also does a very good job of producing sharp text and business documents. Getting photos into the machine is just as easy as getting them out, with a flatbed scanner, media card slots, and a PictBridge-enabled USB port that can connect digital cameras directly, or connect to USB flash drives and other storage devices.

One of the problems with inkjets is the cost of printer ink, but Kodak 5100 ink cartridges are very affordable. The machine uses two separate EasyShare 5100 ink cartridges for its printing system, and both have fairly large capacities. Purchasing compatible Kodak 5100 ink instead of the more expensive OEM versions will also reduce operating costs.

In their review of the 5100, PCWorld gave it a rating of 3 out of 5 stars. They praised its media card and USB thumb drive support, as well as the low cost of Kodak 5100 ink. They found its upfront price to be higher than competing models, however, and photo colors to be somewhat dull.

Overall, the Kodak 5100 has a solid combination of functionality that should appeal to many home users. Its easy-to-use control panel and software make it simple to scan and print high-quality photos, and text and other documents look great as well.
