IBM 1532 Printer Review
The IBM Infoprint 1532 is a dedicated laser printer that is quite powerful considering the compact size of 16.6x19.6x13.6 inches. This unit can connect to a computer via USB port and ethernet interface, as well as an optional wireless connection. Networking and duplex printing are both standard features, which allow users to share the 1532 and cut paper costs by printing on both sides of a page. For offices with high-volume daily tasks, the 200,000-print monthly duty cycle will be able to handle it.
The black printer toner that is used is held in a single IBM 1532 toner cartridge. Because of the capacity to produce up to 21,000 pages per Infoprint 1532 toner cartridge, the cost per page will be low and replacement toners will not be needed frequently. Another cost-efficient option is the compatible IBM 1532 toner that is available from third party vendors. Using this version of Infoprint 1532 toner will save money but still provide the same yield and deliver the same quality as the brand name printer toner.
The paper trays that are built-in to the 1532 are a 250-sheet input tray, 100-sheet bypass tray for alternative media types, and a 250-sheet output tray. Additional trays are available, though, that will increase the maximum capacity to 3,850 sheets. The various types of paper that are supported include transparencies, envelopes, cards and labels. Regardless of the canvas, a maximum resolution of 1200x1200 dpi can be created by IBM 1532 toner.
There is an LCD on the top panel that allows users to manage the progress of tasks and edit documents before printing. The output rate is 35 pages per minute, which will suffice for an office environment. IBM also offers attachment devices that will give the 1532 the ability to serve as a scanner, copier and fax machine in addition to being a reliable laser printer.
