HP T520 Printer Review

The HP Designjet T520 inkjet printer is built for professional output quality, and handles formats up to 24 or 36 inches wide. It also has the added bonus of wireless support and sharing features normally seen in consumer-oriented devices, for the best of both worlds. HP T520 printer ink is reasonably priced for its class.

The T520 has a unique design that allows it to handle media on rolls, cut sheet media, or even loose paper in standard sizes. As a result, it is possible to use it for both standard office prints and larger materials such as maps, designs, and more. Two models provide a choice of either 24 or 36-inch media support.

A 4.3-inch full-color touchscreen interface is a surprising addition, but a welcome one. With easy Wi-Fi setup and HP's ePrint technology, users can be up and running quickly. Printing from mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets is supported, and users can even email a document to a unique address to have it begin printing remotely. A USB 2.0 port is available as well, as is an ethernet port for wired networking and potentially faster transfers.

The color HP T520 ink cartridges (cyan, magenta, and yellow) come in only one capacity of 29 ml. The black Designjet T520 ink cartridge, however, comes in both a 38 ml and 80 ml size, which could help lower the cost per page. HP T520 ink prices are higher than the average inkjet, but still reasonable for professional environments with higher budgets.

The T520 certainly comes at a steep price, but it is less expensive than some in its class, and its sharp 2400x1200 dpi output will be worth it for those who need superior quality prints. Its choice of two widths and support for many sizes and configurations of paper make it an impressively versatile device, and Designjet T520 printer ink won't eat up the entire budget.
