Though it lacks and automatic document feeder and a fax function, it should be a good fit for many home users, and HP PSC 1513 printer ink is fairly affordable.

The PSC 1513 shouldn't really be considered an office machine, though it can perform basic scanning and copying. It leans instead toward the consumer side of things with features like a PictBridge USB port on its front panel for direct printing of photos from a digital camera. The unit connects to a single computer from its rear USB port, and does not have wired or wireless sharing options available.

The compact design of the machine will be a real benefit for home users who plan to use it on a desktop. It measures 6.38x17.09x11.42 inches, and weighs just 11.19 pounds without the HP PSC 1513 ink cartridges installed. Print quality is tested by reviewers to be adequate, but not overly impressive. Text is solid, but some stylized text exhibits problems, and graphics are average.
