The HP PSC 1401 is a simple multi-purpose inkjet printer that does not require much maintenance but will provide high quality results at a reasonably fast speed. Using a revolutionary printing technology known as drop-on-demand technology and quick-drying, long-lasting HP PSC 1401 ink, the photos created are professional and realistic.

The PSC 1401 is compatible with most major operating systems including Windows and Mac. It can print on many different kinds of paper, such as photo and glossy, and various media types like envelopes, labels and transparencies. Image transfers are faster than ever through the USB 2.0 high speed connection. There are also 100-sheet input and output trays that come standard upon purchase.

Complete with two HP PSC 1401 ink cartridges, this unit provides users with the ability to tackle virtually any task. These printer ink tanks are black and tricolor, consisting of cyan, yellow and magenta. Using the black HP PSC 1401 ink, up to 18 pages can be printed at a resolution of 1200x1200 dpi. In color, up to 14 pages per minute can be produced at a maximum resolution of 2400x1200 dpi. Though this inkjet device does have a monthly capacity of 5,000 pages, the PSC 1401 ink cartridges yield less than 200 pages. Replacement printer ink will become an annoyance and an added expense for high-volume users.

The scanner has a 36-bit color depth and special software that can enhance its resolution from 600x2400 dpi to 19200 dpi. It also uses OCR software that turns scanned text into editable text. The copier produces at the same speed as the printer and can make 9 duplicates per original document. It also has an automatic fit-to-page feature.
