The HP PSC 1317 is an inkjet printer that produces at high speeds and impressive quality. Most home and small businesses will be completely satisfied with the text documents and color images. As well as color printing, this unit can also scan and copy. There is a USB and a PictBridge port, which allows direct connection to digital cameras. This increases the speed of transfer images, which ultimately speeds up the entire process.

Using drop-on-demand printing, small dots of HP PSC 1317 ink are dispensed through nozzles over every inch of paper. Various kinds of paper can be used, including iron-on transfers, transparencies, labels, cards and photo paper. When copying, 50 copies can be made from an original at a resolution of 600x1200 dpi using black HP PSC 1317 ink and 1200x1200 dpi with color. Unfortunately for offices, this inkjet unit does not fax.

The printer itself can obtain a resolution of 4800x1200 dpi using color ink and 1200x1200 dpi with black. There are two PSC 1317 ink cartridges in this machine, one with black printer ink and the other tricolor—consisting of cyan, magenta and yellow. There is also an optional HP PSC 1317 ink cartridge that is strictly for photo printing.

The 1317 has a built-in memory of 16 MB and weighs only 10 pounds. Even though the monthly duty cycle is only 1,000 pages, there are high capacity tanks of black and color printer ink available for high-volume printing. All in all, the HP PSC 1317 is a good device with a lot of benefits and dependability.
