Most inkjet printers that can be found for less than $100 do not offer multiple functions and extremely high quality and speeds. The HP PSC 1315 is an anomaly, seemingly breaking all of the unspoken expectations for machines designed for homes or small offices. With a monthly duty cycle of only 1,000 pages, this unit is not meant for big businesses with large print jobs. Using fade resistant HP PSC 1315 ink, any text documents and color images will last a lifetime.

The copy machine can print up to 15 pages per minute and creates 50 copies from an original. It can zoom up to 400% and can reach a resolution of 600x1200 dpi with black HP PSC 1315 ink and 1200x1200 dpi with color. The scanner has a maximum resolution of 600x2400 dpi, regardless of which kind of printer ink, and it has an internal color depth of 36-bit. These extra functions add versatility to any work space.

With a 16 MB of memory and a 100-sheet input tray, this inkjet unit is not upgradeable. There are 2 HP PSC 1315 ink cartridges that come with this unit, black and tricolor. There is also an optional ink tank that is meant specifically for high quality photo printing. The standard printer ink tanks have low page yields, but high capacity HP PSC 1315 ink cartridges are available.

Windows and Mac operating systems are both conducive with this unit. Various types of paper are also compatible with the 1315, such as cards, labels, envelopes, iron-on transfers and photo paper. In addition, the PictBridge connection allows the printer to connect directly to digital cameras. The HP PSC 1315 weighs 10 pounds and only measures 6.68x16.76x10.2 inches. It is compact and easy to move, in addition to being a reliable and impressive color printer.
