Home users will find the compact design of the HP LaserJet P1009 model very appealing, but they don’t have to sacrifice speed. It can print up to 15 pages per minute at a high-quality 600 dpi resolution. Its 150-sheet paper tray should be enough for home use, and it can connect to either PCs or Macs.

With the printer turned on, raise the output paper tray out of the way, so that you can also raise the access panel. Inside the opening is the LaserJet P1009 toner cartridge. Find the small handle in the front, then grab and pull it out of the machine.

Take a few moments to prepare the new HP P1009 cartridge. Take it out of the box and discard the packing materials before removing it from the plastic bag. Rock the cartridge back and forth to redistribute the toner inside, as it may have settled.

You will need to remove the paper that protects the drum. You can simply pull it out in the direction the arrows are pointing. You will also need to remove the packing tape by slipping a finger inside the loop and pulling it out of the cartridge.

With the P1009 cartridge prepared, slide it down into the opening with the handle facing toward you. Lower it down until you feel it settle firmly. As a last step, close the access panel.
