HP 6230 Printer Review
The HP OfficeJet Pro 6230 ePrinter combines the affordability of an inkjet printer with professional results one would expect from a serious business machine. It has ISO print speeds of 18 pages per minute in black and 10 pages per minute in color, and includes Wi-Fi support for easy sharing among several users. The cost of HP 6230 printer ink is a little higher than the average inkjet model, but page yields are a little higher as well.
The design of the 6230 is quite sleek and modern, with a matte black finish and a low profile design. It weighs only 11.22 pounds when the OfficeJet Pro 6230 printer ink is installed, and measures 5.7x18.3x15.2 inches. Connection options include USB and ethernet ports, and it supports 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi networking. With HP's ePrint platform, users can print from practically any device that can send email, and Apple AirPrint is supported as well.
The input paper capacity is 225 sheets, which is pretty solid for such a compact and affordable machine. The output tray holds only 60 sheets, so it will need to be emptied during longer print jobs. The unit has a 15,000-page monthly duty cycle that far exceeds most models in its class, so it can be used for relatively high volumes.
The HP 6230 ink is pigment-based, for deeper colors and more durability. HP 6230 ink cartridges also have higher yields than expected, at around 400 pages each. The price of OfficeJet Pro 6230 ink cartridges might cause some buyers a bit of stress, but the cost per page is actually fairly low.
Built for larger print jobs and higher volumes than most models in its class, the HP OfficeJet Pro 6230 is ready to tackle some serious printing tasks. It may not have the fastest speeds in its category, but its sharing features are solid, and supplies are affordable.
