The HP LaserJet M1319 is a multifunction monochrome laser printer designed for the home or small office user. It combines solid laser quality with excellent multifunction features for a very affordable price. The cost per page of printing is also very low, much like the Oki C3100 that features Okidata 43034804 toner.
The M1319's design is a little on the awkward side. It manages to stay fairly compact, especially given its wide range of features, and measures 18.1 inches by 18.4 inches by 17.3 inches (HWD) and weighs 22 pounds. The awkwardness comes from the fact that it is designed like a fax machine perched on top of a laser printer, which makes its 30-page automatic document feeder jut out from the top of an already tall unit, taking up more vertical space than it probably should. The unit also lacks a flatbed scanner, which many users may not miss, but it means that scanning, copying and faxing can only be done on loose documents that can fit through the feeder.
Despite the fact that printing is monochrome-only, the scanner can do full-color scans at resolutions up to 1200 dpi and 24-bit color depth. For those who wish to have color abilities when printing too, models that support Dell 310-9064 toner are a far better option.
Scans and copies come out very clean and detailed due to its quality scanning engine. Input paper capacity is 250 sheets in the main paper tray, with a 10-sheet multipurpose tray available for other sizes and types of media. Maximum monthly duty cycle is 8,000 pages.
Print quality is excellent for the HP M1319, producing sharp text which is readable even at small font sizes. Graphics quality is good, with only a slight amount of banding and other issues cropping up in some prints. Print speed is a rather impressive 19 pages per minute, especially for the price. In fact, the affordable price is the real selling point for the M1319. The functionality users get for the price is very impressive.
HP LaserJet M1319 toner cartridges leave a little to be desired. Standard HP M1319 toners only have a capacity of 2,000 pages, and the high yield HP M1319 toner only has a capacity of 3,000 pages. Small users will find that the HP LaserJet M1319 toner cartridges are quite suitable, but any large needs users might want to consider a different printer. The cost per page is much more affordable than a lot of the competition, like Dell 310-9319 toner.
Overall, the HP LaserJet M1319 provides great scanning and printing quality and good implementation of its multifunction features. A flatbed scanning surface would have been nice, but given the printer's affordable price, it may be a worthwhile tradeoff.
