HP J6450 Printer Review

Over and over again users of the HP OfficeJet J6450 tend to have the same opinion—that this is a well crafted machine that delivers high quality and fast speeds. This all in one can print, copy, fax and scan documents on many different media types including plain paper, inkjet paper, photo paper, envelopes, brochures, transparences, labels and cards. No matter what type of operating system is used (Mac or Windows), this thermal inkjet unit will work great. Another highlight is that it can connect via USB as well as wirelessly, which will probably be an exciting addition for most. It also weighs only 16.8 pounds and has a small overall size of 18.7x18.6x10.2 inches.

For a low upfront cost of around $200, it seems that owning this unit will be quite affordable. However, for those with a lot of printing to do, the J6450 could become quite expensive to operate. Two HP J6450 ink cartridges are needed for use, and they are color and black. Additionally, a photo color and photo gray can be purchased for the highest quality photos. When printing pictures, the photo OfficeJet J6450 ink cartridges take the place of the black and tricolor. If photography printing is not important, though, only the two primary tanks of printer ink will be needed.

The black HP J6450 ink can only yield about 200 pages, while the color printer ink yields around 170. Though these OfficeJet J6450 ink tanks are affordable, printing at a high rate, they will be quite expensive. If printing at the maximum monthly duty cycle of 5,000 pages, these yields will definitely not do and will have users constantly buying replacements. However, remanufactured versions of the HP J6450 ink are available from third party vendors.

Aside from the high price on ink, this unit has everything a small office could need and more.
