HP J4600 Printer Review

Buying a printer in a small office environment can be tricky. Users need professional quality results, but tight budgets mean a device must be affordable. The HP OfficeJet J4600 All-in-One is a color inkjet that can fax, copy, and scan, and it also provides nearly laser-quality text at a low price. The small capacity of HP J4600 printer ink is better-suited for low-volume use.

The automatic document feeder is one of the features that busy users will appreciate most, providing the ability to scan or copy up to 20 pages at a time automatically. For scanning photos, books, and large or irregular media, a flatbed scanner is available as well. Print speeds can reach up to 28 black pages per minute, and 22 color pages per minute in draft modes, but higher-quality settings will be slower.

Connecting the J4600 to computers couldn't be easier. The single USB port allows for a direct connection, but most users will probably choose to share it over a wireless network, as it includes support for 802.11b/g protocols. This makes the unit available to any computer on the network without the need for extra cables and wires, though connecting it via USB will be necessary for initial setup.

Two HP J4600 ink cartridges are used by device: one combined tricolor and one black. As a nice bonus, the unit has the ability to print with only one OfficeJet J4600 ink cartridge if the other runs out, as opposed to simply refusing to print when one type of OfficeJet J4600 printer ink goes empty.

A solid all-in-one inkjet like the J4600 makes a great alternative to more expensive laser machines, and affordable costs for HP J4600 ink make it a good value for the long term. Able to handle just about any task a small office user would need, it comes highly recommended.
