With the HP OfficeJet J4535 All-in-One, buyers don't have to decide between a color inkjet that prints great photos and an office-centric machine that can scan, copy, and fax, as they get both. It can print at up to 22 pages per minute for color and 28 pages for black, though higher quality settings will reduce the speed, as well as use more HP J4535 printer ink. The unit includes support for Wi-Fi sharing to make setting it up quick and easy.

The J4535 includes a 20-page automatic document feeder for quick scanning of multi-page documents, which helps users get originals into the machine quickly, and it can handle media sizes up to 8.5x14 inches. For added flexibility, it also includes a flatbed scanning surface that can handle sizes up to 8.5x11.7 inches, and allows for irregular media like books or stapled pages.

The copy function can make up to 100 copies from an original, and supports reduction and enlargement in a range from 25 to 400%. The maximum resolution for both copies and prints is 4800x1200 optimized dpi when using color OfficeJet J4535 printer ink. Fax transmissions can take as little as 3 seconds per page, and features like fax forwarding and a junk fax barrier.

The printer ink system uses one black HP J4535 ink cartridge and a combined tricolor supply that includes cyan, magenta, and yellow. Though the tricolor OfficeJet J4535 ink cartridge is easier to replace than individual colors, the downside is the potential for wasted ink if one color goes empty early. To save on costs, remanufactured HP J4535 ink is available for lower prices than those of the manufacturer.

Although there are a few compromises made, like its small paper capacity and tiny display, the HP J4535 has a good combination of features and functions for a very low price. The addition of wireless support in such an inexpensive inkjet model is a real bonus that makes it an even better value.
