Sometimes even home users need a little more than basic printing functionality and the HP Deskjet F4175 is an affordable all-in-one color inkjet that can provide scanning and copying as well. Print speeds are fairly fast for the price, at up to 14 pages per minute in color and 20 pages per minute in monochrome, and both standard and high-capacity versions of HP F4175 printer ink can help users control costs.

The F4175 has a straightforward, easy-to-use design. The control panel is streamlined, with one-touch buttons for color and monochrome copies that make it quick and simple for novices to understand. A flatbed scanner can support originals at sizes up to 8.5x11.7 inches, at a 48-bit color depth. The machine measures 16.76x14.5x7.11 inches and weighs 9.5 pounds. Both the input and output trays are located in the front of the machine, and the input capacity is up to 100 sheets.

HP touts that the F4175 can provide laser-quality text, and while this is probably overstating, the sharp resolution of 1200 dpi does provide great output quality. Printing with color Deskjet F4175 ink can provide up to a 4800x1200 dpi optimized resolution for even better quality, especially for photos.

The unit comes with a single black and a single tricolor HP F4175 ink cartridge included. High-capacity versions are available for a lower cost per page, and an additional photo color Deskjet F4175 ink cartridge can add extra detail to photo prints. Users who print a lot of images might find the cost of replacing so many colors to be expensive, however.

While it lacks some office-centric features like a document feeder, the HP F4175 is a solid, affordable all-in-one inkjet with a compact frame that will be a good choice for low-volume home use. Its speeds are fairly fast, and print quality is sharp, but printing a lot of photos can result in high costs.
