The HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One inkjet printer steps it up a notch from the other models in its lineup, with the addition of an automatic document feeder, a larger display, and solid ISO speeds of up to 14 pages per minute. With only two HP 7640 printer ink supplies to replace, it is easy to maintain, and both mobile printing and photo printing are easy to accomplish.

The 7640 is certainly geared toward high-quality photos, with a maximum optimized resolution of 4800x1200 dpi. But it can also copy, scan, and fax, and has sharing features like scan-to-email that can replace faxing while also saving on paper and ENVY 7640 printer ink. The input paper tray has a small capacity of 125 pages, but a separate tray is dedicated to photo media, and can hold up to 15 sheets. The automatic document feeder holds up to 25 sheets.

Users can connect the machine via USB or a wired ethernet port, but it also supports Wi-Fi networking for easier sharing. There is also a front USB port that accepts flash media and other storage devices. The 3.5-inch touchscreen is a nice upgrade from similar models in its line, and offers excellent control over the various features and functions available.

The combined tricolor HP 7640 ink cartridge is a blessing and a curse, as it is easier to replace than individual colors, but could also result in wasted ink. The standard ENVY 7640 ink cartridges have fairly small yields of only 165 and 200 pages for tricolor and black, respectively. Users may wish to use high-capacity HP 7640 ink supplies instead, which offer 415 and 600 pages.

For such a compact and affordable inkjet model, the HP 7640 manages to cram in an impressive number of features. Its quick speeds and high-quality photo output will greatly appeal to home users, and it is easy to share with the whole family on a wireless network.
