While the HP ENVY 5644 e-All-in-One inkjet printer doesn't have the bells and whistles of larger, more expensive models, it offers a reasonable package of features for its price and compact size. It has ISO print speeds of 12 pages per minute for black and 8 pages per minute for color, though it is much slower for photos. With two sizes of HP 5644 printer ink supplies available, users can prioritize upfront price or cost per page.

Even with faxing, printing, scanning, and copying capabilities, the 5644 still has a compact frame, measuring 6.3x17.8x16.1 inches, with a weight of only 15 pounds, even with the ENVY 5644 printer ink installed. The touchscreen control panel is small, at only 2.65 inches diagonally, but it is adequate for the task, and allows for a fairly sparse control panel that is easy to use.

Along with its main functions, the unit also supports extras like mobile printing from smartphones and tablets. With the HP ePrint apps on popular platforms, users can even monitor paper and HP 5644 ink levels from the app, or send scanned documents directly to their device. With the option of either USB or Wi-Fi connectivity, it is easy to set up and to share.

The inkjet system uses only two HP 5644 ink cartridges, with a combined tricolor supply instead of discrete colors. The standard supplies have yields of 165 pages for tricolor and 200 pages for black. High-capacity ENVY 5644 ink cartridges offer more than twice the yields, at 415 pages and 600 pages, respectively.

The fact that the HP 5644 can handle so many functions in such a compact and affordable machine is already impressive. Add in its solid speeds and sharp output and you have a winning combination that will suit light-duty home users quite well.
