HP 4500 e-All-in-One Printer Review

The HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One can print, scan, and copy, with sharp output quality and the ability to make borderless photos in many common sizes. With ISO speeds of 8.8 pages per minute in black and 5.2 pages per minute in color, it is fairly quick. With high-capacity HP 4500 e-All-in-One printer ink available, users can also make it more affordable to operate.

The 4500 includes easy wireless setup, so it can be configured with the push of only a few buttons with supported routers. The unit supports wireless direct print features for certain mobile devices, and the HP ePrint platform allows users to download a free app to a tablet or smartphone for printing from and scanning to the device. Users can also access many web services directly from the control panel.

For easier control, the front panel includes a small 2-inch LCD, which might make navigating menus a little difficult for some users. This is somewhat of a tradeoff for the unit's compact design and low price, however. The machine measures 5x17.5x13.1 inches, and weighs 12.3 pounds, which includes the ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One printer ink supplies, but not the paper. The main paper tray can hold up to 100 sheets.

With only two HP 4500 e-All-in-One ink cartridges used, the combined tricolor supply is a bit of let down compared to individual colors. The availability of both standard and high-capacity ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One ink cartridges does let users control their costs a bit more, however. Buyers can find remanufactured HP 4500 e-All-in-One ink from third-party sellers for a fraction of the cost of OEM supplies.

For a simple, compact all-in-one inkjet printer for the home, the 4500 is tough to beat. Its low price and sleek design make it very appealing, and operating costs aren't too high.
