HP D155 Printer Review
Looking at the features the HP OfficeJet D155, it seems like the ideal printer for budget conscious buyers needing an all-in-one unit. However, most buyers suffer from a bad case of buyer's remorse. Available for Mac or Windows users, it contains a flatbed scanner, fax machine, copier and printer, meeting the needs of small businesses fairly well—it does so, though, at only decent quality while wasting a good amount of expensive HP D155 ink.
Weighing 35 pounds, it is quite bulky, and its dimensions of 13.3x21.85x16.3 inches certainly make a large footprint. Able to print on plain paper, cards, envelopes, banners, labels and transparencies, the HP D155 does have versatility on its side. It also has a built-in auto duplexer, as well as an auto collating feature. Connecting via USB, this inkjet unit doesn't even need to be attached to a computer to work—direct printing from a memory card (or other compatible media) is also possible. Its speeds are also fairly average, printing 19 pages per minute using black OfficeJet D155 ink and 16 pages per minute using color printer ink.
Only two Officejet D155 ink cartridges are used in cohorts with this machine—one tricolor and one black. Don't get too excited about only having to maintain and worry about two tanks, though. These will run out quickly between uses and will end up costing a small fortune if purchasing directly from the manufacturer. One way to ensure inexpensive prices is to buy the HP D155 ink cartridges from a trusted third party vendor. These can be purchased at only a fraction of the cost, while yielding and performing at the same great resolutions. In this case, the black and color printer inks have a maximum resolution of 1200x600 dpi.
Consumer reviews of the unit are very negative across the board. Most owning and using this inkjet unit have multiple complaints including unreliability, frequent printer jams, smudged images and expensive HP D155 ink. A non-working scanner also was a primary concern.
