Want an inexpensive printer? Take a look at the HP Deskjet D1520. Producing at decent speeds with high quality, this little machine strictly prints, and that's it. With its low monthly capacity of only 500 pages and lack of many functions, it will be best suited for personal use.

A black and a tricolor HP D1520 ink cartridge are needed for use; however, the black is not included in the purchase. The black can create resolutions as high as 1200x1200 dpi and the color has the ability to reach resolutions of 4800x1200 dpi. These resolutions are great compared to other similar models out there with the same function.

Most paper types are supported, making the D1520 a versatile inkjet printer. It can print on plain paper, envelopes, photo paper, index cards, labels and greeting cards. Transparencies can even be printed on using HP D1520 ink.

User reviews are, for the most part, pretty negative. Buyers tend to constantly bring up the fact that installation is tricky and that the drivers sometimes do not work. A major annoyance for many is the fact that a USB cable and a black Deskjet D1520 ink cartridge are not included upon purchase. Also, many have complained that rebooting the inkjet printer takes too long and that the machine itself is too incredibly loud. Another problem, according to consumers, is that the unit has high printer ink consumption, forcing users to buy Deskjet D1520 ink too often.

On the flip side though, some people think the HP D1520 ink consumption is reasonable, and that the printer ink is so inexpensive that it doesn't matter how often it needs to be purchased. For anyone who uses the D1520, it is reliable. And for less than 40 bucks, no one should really be complaining about anything.
