HP D145 Printer Review

The HP OfficeJet D145 ink printer is a multifunction device that prints, scans, copies, and faxes. As is the norm with MFDs these cannot quite deliver the quality of machines dedicated to single tasks; however the D145 makes a good fist of it and scores on the print quality front. At around $600, the machine is on the expensive side but it is feature packed and it delivers on performance. It offers print speeds of up to 19 ppm for monochrome and 15 ppm for color prints. Maximum media size that the machine can handle is 8.5 in x 14 in or legal-sized documents. The input tray has a maximum capacity of 150 sheets.

The HP D145 ink cartridge printer has a 50-page sheet feeder. It can work over a network via the JetDirect Print Server which is to be purchased separately. A 48-it color depth enables the machine to deliver excellent photographs; however, unit costs per print are higher than what you can achieve with other OfficeJet models. The HP D145 inkjet cartridge printer uses 2 HP inkjet cartridges, one black ink and one tri-color ink cartridge; the printheads are available as separate modules and can be purchased only from HP. Also, the machine will not go into high resolution printing mode unless you are using HP photo paper. The HP 14 black and HP 14 tricolor ink cartridges yield 800 and 470 pages, respectively.

The OfficeJet D145 is equipped with a speedy copier with speeds of up to 18 copies per minute for monochrome and 16 copies per minute for color copies. The range of document size alteration is from 25% to 400% of the original size. This AIO is equipped with an automatic document feeder and supports automatic duplexing. The machine supports the following types of media - cards, labels, envelopes, plain paper, greeting cards, transparencies, and iron-on transfers. The faxing element is equipped with a number of useful features such as fax forwarding, activity report, automatic redialing, answering machine interface, and distinctive Ring Pattern Detection (DRPD).

The machine dimensions are 21.9 x 16.3 x 13.3 in and it weighs 32.4 lbs. Its support for flash memory is limited and covers only SmartMedia, CompactFlash, and Memory Stick. With a duty cycle of 5000 pages in a month, the HP OfficeJet D145 inkjet multifunction device is not a heavy-duty AIO; it is ideally suited for SMBs and home business owners.
