The HP LaserJet CP1520 is one of the most compact color laser printers in its lineup, so it will be right at home in small office spaces. Its print speeds are a bit on the slow side, at only 12 pages per minute in black and 8 pages per minute in color, and its paper capacity is small. Savings on LaserJet CP1520 printer toner might be enough to sway buyers, however, as it offers a low cost per page.

One of the more exciting features of the CP1520 is its support for HP ePrint, which allows users to print from virtually anywhere by sending an email to a unique address. Attached files will then start printing automatically. Additional support or Apple's AirPrint protocol lets users easily print from mobile iOS devices with virtually no setup required.

The CP1520 is likely to be compact enough to share a desk with in most situations, measuring just 10x15.7x17.8 inches. It is light enough for easy setup, at a weight of just 40 pounds, which includes the four HP CP1520 toner cartridges as well. There are a few sacrifices made for its small design, however, with a paper capacity of only 150 sheets. The first page out time of 26 seconds is also underwhelming.

Even though replacing four toners is a little daunting for home and small office users, the cost of HP CP1520 toner is very affordable. Each color LaserJet CP1520 toner cartridge is rated for around 1,300 pages, while the black supply is rated for 2,000 pages. Remanufactured HP CP1520 toner supplies are a great alternative to the higher prices of OEM versions.

Despite its extra ePrint features, the CP1520 is about as minimal as a laser printer can be. Nevertheless, it is a more affordable alternative to the typical home inkjet printer, especially when it comes to supplies. Buyers who aren't troubled by its slow speeds and small paper capacity will find it to be a good value.
