The HP LaserJet CM6040 color laser printer is a multifunction machine with a large paper capacity and fast speeds. Numerous upgrades give it flexibility to meet almost any need.

The HP CM6040 color laser printer is also referred to as the CM6040 MFP, which denotes its status as a Multi-Function Printer. It can print, scan, and copy. There is also a CM6040f model available, which adds faxing capabilities. Faxing can also be added to the base model with an upgrade, and many other upgrades are also available. This makes it an ideal choice for a medium-sized office expecting to grow, as it will allow the machine to grow with an office's changing needs.

Paper capacity is impressively large. It includes four 500-sheet trays and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray, for a total of 2,100 sheets of input paper capacity. The paper capacity can be upgraded by adding more trays, and finishing options are also available.

The unit includes a 50-sheet automatic document feeder for scanning pages, which is very convenient for scanning multiple pages at one time, without having to scan them individually. The ADF is utilized by the scanning, copying, and faxing functions.

HP CM6040 toner cartridges are the same part number as other models, keeping costs lower. Each color laser toner cartridge has a page yield of 21,100 pages. The black printer toner cartridge has a capacity of either 19,500 pages or 21,100 pages, depending on the seller. Using third-party compatible HP toner cartridges instead of OEM HP LaserJet CM6040 toner cartridges is a much more affordable option, and reduces the cost per page significantly.

Print quality is excellent across the board. Print speed is very fast, at up to 40 pages per minute in both color and monochrome.
