The HP Photosmart C6185 inkjet printer is an all in one built with the abilities to print, scan, fax and copy. A relatively small size of 17.7x15.2x9.7 inches makes a small footprint that any home will easily be able to find a spot for. Weighing 23 pounds, it is a little heavier than some of the competition, but most users should be able to lift it. It comes with 34 MB of external memory, but unlike some of the competition, users cannot upgrade the memory when needed.
The big problem with this unit will surely be the speeds at which operates. When it is printing in black-and-white, the fastest speed possible us 8.2 pages per minute. When printing in color, only 6 pages per minute can be produced. With speeds like this, most offices won't be able to work efficiently. However, most home offices will find that those speeds are just fine. When copying in black-and-white, up to 8.9 pages can be produced, while color copies will be produced at a sluggish rate of 5 pages per minute.
Inside the unit, there are six HP C6185 ink cartridges. There is one black printer ink that holds 660 pages. The other five Photosmart C6185 ink tanks are filled with cyan, magenta, yellow, light cyan and light magenta printer ink. Each of the standard HP C6185 ink tanks—cyan, yellow and magenta— will last 500 pages. The light cyan and light magenta will only last 240 pages each. This is because you won't use them as much as the other colors.
Though standard Photosmart C6185 ink cartridges are available for a fairly affordable price, remanufactured versions are available from third party vendors. Remanufactured HP C6185 ink will last just as long as OEM inkjet tanks will, but they will cost significantly less. Remanufactured printer ink is the best way to save money while printing.
