Whether needing a simple printer or an all in one, the HP Photosmart C5290 will work perfectly. Packed with exciting features and capable of many functions, this thermal inkjet unit is a standard printer at heart. Offering connection via high-speed USB, those looking for wireless printing may be a little disappointed. However, its many advantages outweigh the disadvantages by a long shot. Exceeding the needs of most home offices, the C5290 has a maximum duty cycle of 3,000 pages per month. While it has a lot of functions—like scanning, printing and copying—it still only requires two HP C5290 ink cartridges for standard prints, but it does offer two additional printer ink tanks for optimal photo printing.

The printer and copier can both create 32 pages per minute using only the black HP C5290 ink. Using color printer ink, about 24 pages per minute can be created. These speeds are quite fast for a unit this size, and it also offers high resolutions too. The black and color Photosmart C5290 ink cartridges can reach resolutions of up to 1200x1200 dpi and 4800x1200 dpi, respectively, when printing. When copying, the resolution can be as high as 4800x1200 dpi. This copier can even create up to 50 duplicates from an original copy, with the help of HP C5290 ink. The flatbed scanner can reach resolutions of up to 4800 dpi, and it has a 48-bit color depth.

User reviews for this inkjet unit are pretty positive. Most find it to be a very durable printer with great value. They claim it is very easy to use and even easier to set up. Though some complain that the cost of Photosmart C5290 ink can become an expense, they all agree that the quality is high. The only real complaint lies in the paper jams that seem to happen far too often. Other than that though, only positive things can be said about the HP C5290.
