HP C5225 Printer Review

The HP Photosmart C5225 is an all in one inkjet unit with multiple functions, such as printing, copying and scanning. Offering users quick speeds and high resolutions at a low price, this printer is hard to beat. Windows and Mac compatible with a monthly duty cycle of 3,000 pages, it will fit the needs of most home offices quite well. Small offices should consider purchasing the C5225 despite its lack of faxing features. However, offices or homes that come close to reaching the maximum monthly capacity may find themselves spending a lot of money on replacement printer ink.

A black, color and photo HP C5225 ink cartridge are available for printing with this machine, but the photo tank is optional. Using only the black Photosmart C5225 ink, 32 pages per minute can be printed or copied. With color printer ink, 24 pages per minute are possible. Printing resolutions are 1200x1200 dpi and 4800x1200 dpi when using black or color HP C5225 ink, respectively.

Most standard media types work great with the C5225. Plain paper, inkjet paper, photo paper, envelopes, labels, index cards and greeting cards can all be printed on. One great feature that makes this device rise above the competition is its ability to print directly onto CDs and DVDs.

The scanner is a flatbed, and it can reach an optical resolution as high as 4800 dpi with a 48-bit color depth. The copier, whether using the color or black HP C5225 ink, can reach resolutions of 4800x1200 dpi. Fifty copies can even be made from an original document, which should increase efficiency.

A USB port is the standard connection, and it is high speed as well. Though the replacement Photosmart C5225 ink cartridges may seem a little pricey, remanufactured versions are available from third party vendors, making it a perfect fit for the home or small office.
