The HP Photosmart C4340 is an all in one with a lot to offer. From the Photosmart C4300 line, this inkjet unit doesn't stand out - it's just like the others. However, being just like the others is just fine when a machine comes built like this. With quick speeds, high quality and affordable Photosmart C4340 ink, it rises above competing models that have more expensive replacements, such as Dell M4640 ink. The C4340s 3,000 page monthly cycle will probably be more than enough for any small office.
Only one tricolor and one black HP C4340 ink cartridge are needed with this inkjet unit. Using black printer ink, the C4340 can produce resolutions of up to 1200x1200 dpi, and using color ink, a high quality resolution of 4800x1200 dpi can be produced. These color and black Photosmart C44340 ink cartridges yield 170 pages and 200 pages, respectively. Though these aren't very high page yields, high capacity versions of the HP C4340 ink are available for about twice the cost of the normal capacity. The standard Canon CLI-221BK ink has a higher capacity and lower cost.
A third HP C4340 ink is available; however, it is for photo printing and is only optional. It has a page yield of around 130 pages and is not available in high capacity - which could be quite an expense for those buying the printer for photo printing.
Need scanning or copying capability? The HP C4340 has users covered. Offering both functions, it goes from being a standard printer to an all-in-one unit. Its copier has a 200-400% enlargement capability and a 25-50% reduction, but it can only copy 9 copies from the original document, which newer models can surpass easily. Its scanner scans documents with a resolution of 4800x4800 dpi, which is quite impressive.
Although looking at the price tag, the cost of printer ink for this unit may seem a little high, remanufactured ink cartridges are always available for purchase. However, if these are still too expensive, look at a different model, such as the Epson 610, which uses Epson T069220 ink.
