The HP Photosmart C4250 contains most the functions a home office could need at a price anyone could afford. With 32 MB memory and Windows and Mac compatibility, it fits the needs of the office no matter what operating system is used. It can copy, scan and print at decent speeds and always exerts the highest of resolutions, leaving users with quality results time and time again.
This thermal inkjet unit can hold up to 100 sheets of paper and up to 10 envelopes in its input tray. It can print on many different media types—like plain paper, photo paper, envelopes, labels, transparencies and cards. It connects via USB, meaning that wireless printing is not an option, which could be a drawback for some. It also has a monthly duty cycle of 1,000 sheets.
Two HP C4250 ink cartridges are needed, and one photo printer ink tank is optional for best results. The two needed tanks are black and tricolor—cyan, magenta and yellow. The black Photosmart C4250 ink can print with a resolution of up to 1200 dpi, and the color prints with a resolution of 4800x1200 dpi. The photo HP C4250 ink yields 130 pages, the color yields 170 and the black yields 200 pages.
Compared to other similar models, the ink may not last as long with such small yields. Though for some this might not be a problem, for those who use the inkjet printer to its highest capacity, this could have them buying HP C4250 ink more often than they'd like. The tanks aren't too expensive if they only need to be purchased every so often, but if buying frequently, the Photosmart C4250 ink cartridges could become quite the expense.
Remanufactured versions of the printer ink are, however, available at a much more affordable price from third party vendors, meaning no matter how many pages are printed each month, this printer is an inexpensive option.
