The HP Photosmart C3173 can print, copy and scan up to 3,000 pages a month. This thermal inkjet unit is Windows and Mac compatible and has an internal memory of 32 MB. For those who don't want a high maintenance machine, the C3173 is perfect. It only uses two HP C3173 ink cartridges—black and tricolor (cyan, magenta, yellow). An optional Photosmart C3173 ink cartridge is also available for photograph printing.

With a small size of 6.4x17.1x15 inches, it will fit on any desk top. The device also weighs about 16.9 pounds, which makes it is very easy to move. It connects via USB port, but it also has the option of direct printing from memory cards. Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro and Secure Digital Cards are a few of the many that work with the HP C3173.

The copying feature has the ability to produce 50 copies from an original document, and documents can be enlarged up 400% of their original size. Using black or color HP C3173 ink, resolutions of 600x1200 dpi can be obtained.

The inkjet unit also has the ability to scan images with an enhanced resolution of up to 19200 dpi, and its standard resolutions can reach 1200x2400 dpi. It has a grayscale depth of 8-bits and its color depth is up to 48-bits. The only flaw the scanner has is that the largest document it can scan is only 8.5x11 inches.

The printing function uses black HP C3173 ink to print documents with resolutions of 1200x1200 dpi and 4800x1200 dpi in color. Offered at an affordable price, the photo Photosmart C3173 ink helps make pictures bright, sharp and true to life. The only problem with the photo printer ink is that in order to use it, the black tank of printer ink must be removed. This shouldn't be a hassle for most, and if great photo printing is desired, it is imperative.
