HP B8550 Printer Review

The HP Photosmart B8550 is a color inkjet printer designed for home or small office users. It stems from the Photosmart Pro series of photo printers that are used by professional photographers and photography enthusiasts, and it offers excellent print quality and fast printing speeds, up to 32 pages per minute for black and 31 pages per minute for color. Photosmart B8550 ink is very affordably-priced with a low cost per page.

Paper capacity is 125 sheets, and there is an additional 20-sheet photo tray as well. This is very convenient, as it means not having to empty the main tray to print photos. The output tray is a bit small, at only 50 sheets, but the average user will probably not find it a problem. There are media card slots for inserting digital camera cards and a PictBridge port for connecting a digital camera directly. The unit has a somewhat larger footprint than most models, but is still fairly compact, measuring 7.13 inches by 22.83 inches by 15.31 inches.
