HP 9800 Printer Review

Despite its compact design, the HP Deskjet 9800 color inkjet printer is somewhat of a powerhouse. It not only features fast speeds, solid paper capacity and excellent print quality, but it can handle a wide variety of media sizes, including some large formats. The result is a machine that has a lot of value for the price, and inexpensive HP 9800 ink helps save on printer ink costs.

The machine measures 22.6 inches by 16.1 inches by 7.3 inches and weighs only 22.5 pounds. This makes it a good fit for the tight spaces of a home or small office. Under the hood, it has a 96 MHz processor for handling large or complex documents without relying heavily on the host computer. Its 32 MB of RAM cannot be upgraded further, however. The 9800 can connect via parallel or USB for great backwards-compatibility. The 9800d model comes with automatic duplexing included.

The most impressive aspect of the 9800 might be its support for a wide range of media sizes, up to a maximum of 13 by 50 inches. This makes it a good choice for small-scale design use. Print speed is up to 30 pages per minute for black and 8.3 pages per minute for color. Photos will print slower, however.

The printer ink cartridge costs of an inkjet model can be expensive, but HP 9800 ink cartridges are quite affordable. In fact, Deskjet 9800 ink cartridges offer a lower cost per page than most competing models, and users can save even more by using third-party compatible Deskjet 9800 ink instead of OEM versions.

For photo enthusiasts or those who need support for larger formats, the HP 9800 could be a great choice. Its fast speeds, compact design and affordable price are impressive, and HP 9800 ink keeps operating costs low for the life of the machine.
