HP 880C Printer Review

The HP Deskjet 880C is a stand-alone inkjet printer designed for personal and small office use. All-in-one printers are more commonly found in work environments these days due to the multiple functions in one machine. But, if a single-purpose unit is all that is required, the 880C is a solid choice. Average print speeds and quality will provide semi-professional results, though more common models would blow this machine out of the water.

The high quality HP 880C ink can adhere to various types of paper, such as letter, envelopes, banners, transparencies, index and post card, as well as special photo paper. It is connected via parallel and USB ports, allowing for faster image transfers. Unfortunately, it does not have wireless or networking capabilities, so the PC printing will have to be directly connected. The HP 880C is compatible with all major operating systems, including Windows and Mac.

When using color Deskjet 880C ink, this unit can knock out about 6 pages per minute, while using black it can produce up to 9 pages per minute. This device features drop-on-demand thermal inkjet technology, which consists of nozzles that eject the HP 880C ink onto the page in tiny dots. This system can reach a maximum resolution of 600x600 dpi. Using the PhotoREt II software, the printer ink is layered to create more crisp and clear colors and graphics.

There are only two Deskjet 880C ink cartridges, one containing black printer ink and the other containing cyan, yellow and magenta. These tanks have a decent page yield, ranging from 600 to 800 pages. The printer itself can yield roughly 2,000 pages per month with ease. The HP 880C ink cartridges will need to be replaced eventually and can be done through the manufacturer or third party vendors. Ultimately, the HP Deskjet 880C is not the best color printer on the market, but it can provide simple users with every feature they need.
