HP 832C Printer Review

While leaving businesses frustrated and annoyed, the HP Deskjet 832C is more suitable for home users. It cannot make copies, scan or fax like most offices are looking for. It also has no networking or wireless capabilities. This inkjet unit would only slow progress down at work, but it would be great for a home with average printing needs.

When printing with the black HP 832C ink cartridge, only 8 pages per minute can be printed. More current models can reach up to 30 pages in a minute. When using color printer ink, less than 2 pages a minute can be produced. If using both black and color Deskjet 832C ink, like when printing graphics, about 5 pages a minute can be printed. A 4x6 inch color photo takes as many as 2 minutes to manifest, meaning pictures in a hurry are not possible.

The two HP 832C ink cartridges contain black and tricolor ink and use nozzles to apply printer ink to the page. The nozzles eject the HP 832C ink in tiny dots per inch (dpi). The resolution of this printer is 600x600 dpi, which is not too bad for an older unit. However, more current units can reach 4800 dpi. Some images with the HP 832C ink look a bit grainy but are still acceptable.

This unit is portable, weighing just over 12 pounds. It is compatible with most major operating systems and has parallel and USB connection. It can print on photo paper, inkjet paper, transparencies, envelopes, greeting cards, labels and banners. There is also a built-in RAM of 2 MB.

At the end of the day, the HP Deskjet 832C is a reliable and durable printer that seems to appease the personal consumers. It is not good in a work environment, but it will print some professional-quality photos.
