The HP Deskjet 830 is just another in a long line of strangely similar inkjet printers. There is nothing special about it. It has the same standard features as most Deskjets. It is compatible with Windows and Mac and can be connected via USB or parallel port. Using exclusively black HP 830 ink, 8 pages per minute can be produced. With a mixture of color and black printer ink, 5 pages per minute can be printed. And using only color Deskjet 830 ink, just over 1 page a minute is made.

Weighing only 12.5 pounds, it doesn't require huge muscles to move this unit wherever it needs to go. And with dimensions of 17.5x14x7.3 inches, the 830 can fit virtually anywhere. The HP 830 ink is dispensed through nozzles to reach a resolution of 600x600 dpi. Even though it takes almost 2 minutes to create a 4x6 inch image, the quality is good, and the convenience is ideal.

There are two Deskjet 830 ink cartridges. One is full of black printer ink while the other has 3 colors—cyan, magenta and yellow. The black HP 830 ink cartridge has a page yield of 830 pages, while the color tank yields 620 pages. Like most HP inkjet printers, drop-on-demand technology is the system used to apply the ink to the page in layers of small droplets to look more solid and realistic.

There are various kinds of paper that the 830 can print on, such as banners, greeting cards, index cards, labels and different types of envelopes. Even though this unit does not have many stand-out features, it is versatile and the helpful provided software allows consumers to navigate easier. All in all, the HP Deskjet 830 is a sound machine with above average quality and mediocre speed.
