Using drop-on-demand technology, small dots of HP 815 ink are layered onto the desired canvas. This unit is conducive with multiple sizes and types of paper, such as A4, A5, banner, letter, envelopes, transparency and index cards. There is an input tray that holds 100 plain sheets of paper and an output tray that can hold up to 50 sheets.

Deskjet 815 ink is quick-drying and fade resistant so images and documents will last for years to come. There are only two HP 815 ink cartridges, one with black and the other with tricolor printer ink. The black can reach a resolution of 600x600 dpi while the color can only get to 300x300 dpi. These resolutions are not impressive but will suffice in most situations.

With a monthly duty cycle of 1,000 pages, high-volume printing will need to be designated for another inkjet printer. The Deskjet 815 ink cartridges have low page yields—the black can last for 830 pages while the color only has 620 pages in it. Replacement tanks of HP 815 ink are available online new from the manufacturer or used from third party vendors. Used refers to remanufactured, and buying remanufactured printer ink will save consumers money while still producing the same quality.
