The HP OfficeJet Pro 8100 is a color inkjet printer with fast performance and sharp output quality that also incorporates some of the newest cloud technologies for easy printing from mobile devices. It has ISO-rated print speeds of up to 20 pages per minute in black and 16 pages per minute in color, and the cost of HP 8100 printer ink is quite affordable.

One slight drawback of the 8100 is that it tends to be a bit bulkier than some of its competition. It measures 11.2x19.5x25.4 inches and weighs 24.2 pounds. Still, it has an appealing black design that blends in with its environment. Automatic duplexing is included for two-sided printing, and the unit's 250-sheet paper capacity can be doubled by adding an additional tray.

The 8100 can connect via wired ethernet or Wi-Fi, which then enables some its more advanced sharing features. HP's ePrint allows users to print from virtually anywhere by sending an attachment to a specific email address, which then initiates the print job. It also includes support for Apple's AirPrint, which provides quick and easy printing from a device like an iPod, iPad, or iPhone. Output quality is rated well by reviewers, with solid text and decent graphics, and lab-quality photos at a maximum resolution of 4800x1200 dpi optimized when using photo paper and color OfficeJet Pro 8100 printer ink.

HP 8100 ink cartridges are available in standard and XL capacities, the latter being a better long-term value. The XL OfficeJet Pro 8100 ink cartridges have capacities of 1,500 pages each, for a very low cost per page. Users can even choose remanufactured HP 8100 ink as a cost-saving alternative, at around half the price of OEM versions.

With excellent sharing features and support for mobile devices, the 8100 is an excellent inkjet printer for those with a lot of gadgets. The ability to print from almost anywhere is impressive, and its purchase price makes it a solid value.
