The HP Photosmart 7550 ink printer is a primarily a photo printing device; it costs approximately $350. The machine has a page yield of 5000 pages. It measures 20.2 x 15.2 x 6.5 in and weighs 14.3 lbs. The device is a good buy for photography enthusiasts and those small businesses that value excellent quality photos and good quality text prints over printer output speeds. The standard input tray has a capacity of 100 sheets and an additional media feeder can hold 24 sheets of size 4 in x 6 in. Media types supported by this printer include cards, banners, plain paper, photo paper, envelopes, transparencies, and iron-on transfers. Duplexing can be availed via an optional accessory.

The HP 7550 ink cartridge printer has rated print speeds of up to 17 ppm for black and 13 ppm for color prints. The maximum print resolutions that the Photosmart 7550 is capable of are 1200 dpi x 1200 dpi and 4800 dpi x 1200 dpi for monochrome and color prints, respectively. The HP 7550 inkjet cartridge machine uses three ink cartridges – HP 56 Black, HP 57 Tricolor, and HP 58 Photo ink cartridge. The photo ink cartridge comes into use when you wish for high-resolution photos. The downside to great quality photo prints which the machine offers is that the cartridges run dry fast.

This printing machine can print without being connected to a PC; however, the LCD display could have been bigger to facilitate ease of use. The four card readers support a variety of flash memory card formats such as CompactFlash, SmartMedia, Secure Digital, Multi-Media, and Memory Stick. The Photosmart 7550 is PC and Mac compatible. The bundled software lets you edit, manage, and print photos. You can create custom slide shows and burn images on to a DVD.

The HP Photosmart 7550 inkjet printer connects via a USB port, it does not support networking. Overall, recommended for photography enthusiasts and home users looking for quality output and willing to overlook the slow speeds.
