HP 7213 Printer Review

The HP OfficeJet 7213 is an all-in-one inkjet printer, fax machine, copier, and scanner, but it is designed more for business tasks than for home use, so it would make a good fit for small office users limited on space. With speeds of up to 30 pages per minute in black and 20 pages per minute in color, it also produces sharp photos, at a high resolution of up to 2400x4800 dpi. HP 7213 printer ink supplies are also available in high-capacity versions to reduce the cost per page.

The 7213 is quite compact, especially given its large feature set. It measures 11.4x19.7x15.6 inches, with a weight of 23.16 pounds that actually includes the OfficeJet 7213 printer ink supplies as well. Users get several one-touch keys on the control panel for common functions, saving a lot of time, and a full keypad for dialing. The screen is monochrome only, but it is adequate for the tasks available, and users can utilize the included software for more advanced features.

At the top of the device is a 50-sheet automatic document feeder for fast scanning, which is surprisingly large for such a small device. The unit can be connected to a single PC via USB, or it has an ethernet port for sharing among a small office. There are also memory card slots available on the front of the device.

The system uses one black and one tricolor HP 7213 ink cartridge, and a photo color supply is available as an option to improve photo output. While the standard OfficeJet 7213 ink cartridges have yields of 330 for color and 480 for black, the high-capacity versions bump it up to 560 for color and 860 for black. Remanufactured HP 7213 ink is available from third-party vendors, and is much more cost-effective.

The main benefit of the OfficeJet 7213 is that users can get the four major functions they need in a compact and affordable inkjet machine. The addition of solid photo printing is a nice bonus that makes it a good value for its class.
