HP 7205 Printer Review

With office features like an ADF and consumer-friendly features like a PictBridge port, the HP OfficeJet 7205 is an all-in-one inkjet printer for both work and play. It can print and copy at up to 20 pages per minute in color, and 30 ppm in black, and high-capacity OfficeJet 7205 printer ink supplies can keep operating costs down.

The 7205 might be a little larger than users bargained for, at 11.4x21.6x17.2 inches, which could make it a tight fit in a home office. With the HP 7205 printer ink installed, it still weighs around 26 pounds, however, so it is easy to get set up. The input tray holds up to 150 sheets, which is a slight improvement over some previous models, and it includes a larger 50-sheet automatic document feeder as well.

The unit connects to a Windows or Mac computer via USB or can be shared via ethernet, and it provides multiple ways to handle photo importing. In addition to scanning photos, users can utilize the front USB port for PictBridge-enabled cameras or flash drives, or insert a memory card into one of many slots. The HP Image Zone software then helps them edit, enhance, and print photos with ease.

In the box are one tricolor and one black OfficeJet 7205 ink cartridge. For everyday printing, this 4-color configuration is as much as the average user will need. However, two other types of HP 7205 ink cartridges are available: photo color and photo gray. These optional types of HP 7205 ink can be swapped with the black supply for better photo quality.

The 7205 is probably a little better as an all-in-one office machine than it is a photo inkjet printer, but it handles both tasks reasonably well. Buyers who want more photo features may want to spend a little more for a device with a full-color LCD screen.
