The HP OfficeJet 7000 inkjet printer is a wide-format color unit, capable of printing on up to 13"X19" paper. The OfficeJet 7000's ideal use is in a workplace because it has the ability to produce large-size documents, like posters, at inexpensive rates. The cost of the 7000 ranges around $230-$300.

At 33 pages per minute for black HP 7000 ink and 32 pages per minute for color, the OfficeJet 7000 is slightly above average for printing speed. This HP uses four-color HP 7000 inkjet cartridges (cyan, magenta, yellow and black). As a result, photos printed with HP 7000 ink aren't as high quality as ones from a unit with a five-color printer ink system or solid ink, such as the Phaser 8550 ink printer. Hp OfficeJet 7000 ink cartridges on this unit are smaller, so they must be replaced more quickly. However, the cost for HP 7000 ink is relatively inexpensive at 2.7 cents per page for black and 2.1 cents per page for color.

The HP OfficeJet 7000 has unique qualities for buyers looking at purchasing a device with wide-range capabilities. Rather than choosing between the typically bulky wide-range units and expensive print services, the HP 7000 offers both an inexpensive price and a weight of only 15.4 pounds.

A positive to owning the OfficeJet 7000 is that it consumes smaller amounts of energy, around 40% less than laser printers. Tests on HP 7000 ink cartridges revealed that they produce the best results when printed on plain paper. This is true for both plain text and graphic/design documents, with the exception of photos. With the shift to photo paper, the quality of OfficeJet 7000 ink wanes and pictures appear grainy.

The two best qualities to this unit include its fast output and high quality on plain paper. Although HP's OfficeJet Pro K800dn does the same job and more quickly, it is more expensive. For an inexpensive price, the OfficeJet 7000 acts as one of few wide-range inkjet devices that perform at a quick speed with low printer ink costs.
