HP 670 Printer Review

The HP Deskjet 670, just like the rest of the 600 series printers, is pretty basic. There are not many features that set this unit apart from any other standard color printer. However, there are still good things about it. It can print up to 4 pages per minute using black HP 670 ink and 1.5 pages in color. More current models can print 3 times that fast, but for an old inkjet unit, it's not that bad.

This unit is compatible with Mac and Windows and comes equipped with 512 KB of RAM. If exclusively printing with the black HP 670 ink, this printer has a monthly duty cycle of 1,000 pages. If printing exclusively in color printer ink, it can only produce about 160 pages per month. It also features a manual double-sided printing option and an automatic document feeder.

The HP RealLife Imaging system provides images that are true to the original. HP Colorsmart is also software that is provided and automatically enhances the colors. So how do the HP 670 ink cartridges get the ink onto the page? Tiny nozzles eject the ink per inch of paper. The Deskjet 670 ink is layered and pressed onto the paper, creating a photo that is close to lab-quality.

There are two standard HP ink cartridges, black and tricolor, as well as an optional photo tank. To install the photo printer ink, the black will need to be removed. These high quality tanks of ink can be pressed onto multiple types of papers, including labels and transparencies. This makes the 670 more versatile than people give it credit for.

It has a light weight of less than 12 pounds and a small frame of 17.2x16x7.9 inches. This allows consumers to move it freely and easily find a corner of the desk to put it on. For simple printing needs at a relatively low-volume, the HP Deskjet 670 inkjet unit is just as good as any.
