Even as all-in-one inkjet printer prices go down, they seem to continue gaining new features. The HP Photosmart 6520 is a great example, with a very affordable price, but advanced features like cloud printing and Wi-Fi support. It has print speeds of up to 22 pages per minute, and even the HP 6520 printer ink supplies are affordable.
The machine can handle printing, scanning, copying, and faxing, though its paper handling is a bit limited. The input paper capacity is only 80 sheets, with a 20-sheet output tray. The lack of an automatic document feeder, on the other hand, is somewhat expected for such a compact device. Dimensions for the unit are 6x17x15 inches, so it is small enough for most home users without getting in the way.
One of the features that make the 6520 very easy to use is its 3.45-inch touchscreen display, which makes navigating menus and controlling features a snap. The inclusion of Apple's AirPrint protocol makes it easy to print from devices like iPhones and iPads, and HP's ePrint allows users to print from just about any device that can send an email. Although the unit includes Wi-Fi, it doesn't have an ethernet port, which is a strange omission, but probably won't affect many potential buyers.
HP 6520 ink cartridges are separated into cyan, magenta, yellow, and black supplies, which should result in less wasted printer ink, as they can be replaced separately. In addition to the standard Photosmart 6520 ink cartridges, there are high-capacity supplies available with more than double the page yield. Some vendors also offer remanufactured HP 6520 ink for around half the cost of OEM versions.
The 6520 is actually a very impressive all-in-one inkjet for the price, with a great touchscreen control panel and solid performance. If buyers don't mind the lack of wired networking, it is a great value, especially with its affordable Photosmart 6520 ink.
