Any home or small office would benefit greatly from the addition of the HP OfficeJet 610. This inkjet all-in-one unit can copy, scan, fax and print, all in color. It comes equipped with an automatic document feeder and 1 MB of memory, as well as two HP 610 ink cartridges. Set up and maintenance are simple, and just about anyone can utilize the multiple functions, thanks to simple navigation keys.

Using black OfficeJet 610 ink, up to 5 pages per minute can be printed. Using color printer ink, this inkjet unit can only print about 2 pages per minute. These speeds are below average and will not be efficient for large businesses. The resolutions probably wouldn't meet most company standards. The black HP 610 ink can only reach a resolution of 600x600 dpi, while the color can only yield 300x300 dpi. The fax and copier can both reach 300 dpi.

Consisting of cyan, magenta and yellow, the tricolor OfficeJet 610 ink cartridge has a page yield of 350 pages. The black printer ink will only last for approximately 720 pages. For higher-volume printing, these tanks will need to be replaced frequently, adding unnecessary expenses. With a suggested life span of 50,000 pages, buying OEM HP 610 ink will start to get painful. So keep in mind that compatible tanks are available from third party vendors for much less money.

Up to 99 copies can be made from an original and are produced at a rate of 1 page per minute. Faxes can be sent and received directly through the PC, and it can send a single document to as many as 80 numbers. There are 100 speed dial options and a shared phone line so the answering machine can detect fax tones.

Compatible with Windows only and able to print on regular paper, envelopes, cards and transparencies, the HP 610 ink printer is simple yet versatile.
