The HP DesignJet 50PS is a plotter, weighing close to 40 pounds. Its heavy weight and large size of 21.3x28.5 inches makes this inkjet device hard to fit in small or overcrowded spaces. Slow print speeds using black and color HP 50PS ink make this unit not suitable for fast-paced business environments. Also, its low monthly cycle and 150 sheet input tray allow the 50PS to work more conveniently in a home for personal use.

Its 6-color system contains black, magenta, cyan, yellow, light magenta and light cyan printer ink tanks. Available high capacity HP 50PS ink cartridges last up to 1,450 pages for each color. This system is less wasteful and will save consumers money in the long run on DesignJet 50PS ink cartridges.

With HP's color layering PhotoREt III technology, DesignJet 50PS ink produces exceptional texts, graphics and photos. Black and color HP 50PS ink have a maximum resolution of 2400x1200 dpi. Despite this inkjet unit's high quality photo function, its slow print speed of 4 minutes per picture may leave users impatient.

This printer's connective options include a parallel port, 1 EIO slot, USB port and an HP Jetdirect EIO print server that delivers fast ethernet. It has a maximum RAM memory 16 MB, 4 GB of available hard disk space and is compatible with Windows and Mac operating systems.

The box includes a tank for each color of HP 50PS ink, a 13x19 inch input tray, a cable for its USB port and a User Documentation CD.
