HP 4252 Printer Review

The HP OfficeJet 4252 is an all-in-one inkjet printer that seems geared toward the heavy fax user, with an included phone handset and full keypad control panel. Buyers shouldn't discount its excellent printing capabilities, however, with speeds of up to 10 pages per minute in color and 14 pages per minute in black and white. High-capacity HP 4252 printer ink can keep the cost per page low as well.

Both faxing and copying can be handled right from the device itself. Users simply lift the automatic document feeder tray to expose both the tray itself and the rest of the control panel. With a full number keypad, five one-touch speed dial buttons, and extras like automatic redial, the fax function is very full-featured. Copying operates at the same speed as printing, for fairly quick performance, and users can make up to 100 copies from a single original, with no restrictions when using the control panel as with some inkjet models.

Despite its many features, the unit is quite compact. The lack of a flatbed scanning surface is a drawback, but also allows for a smaller footprint, so it may be a good tradeoff for space-challenged buyers. The machine measures 7.1x16.4x8 inches, and weighs only 12 pounds before the OfficeJet 4252 ink is installed.

Speaking of printer ink, the prices for OfficeJet 4252 ink cartridges tend to be a little higher than some competing models, but high-capacity HP 4252 ink cartridges also offer a higher page yield than the average. This results in a fairly low cost per page for HP 4252 ink, though it isn't the most affordable in its class.

Buyers who do a lot of faxing should be particularly drawn to the OfficeJet 4252. Its scanning, copying, and printing functions are all well-designed, however, and its speed and output quality make it a great value for its low price.
