The HP DesignJet 4020 has a large size of 76x31x53 inches that makes it ideal for a workplace with wide printing needs and open space. The manufacturer provides a number of different supplies including a 42 inch printer stand and bin, starter HP 4020 ink, CD drivers, a maintenance kit, a setup poster and a customer service guide. Built-in connective options include an ethernet base for networking, an EIO Jetdirect accessory slot and an optional HP Jetdirect print server. The 4020 is compatible with operating systems such as Window Vista, XP and Mac.

Once the provided starter HP 4020 ink cartridges have expired, users can find replacement printer ink at a number of different third party vendor sites. The machine uses three dye-based color DesignJet 4020 ink cartridges and a pigment-based black. Cyan, magenta and yellow HP 4020 ink is ejected in droplet sizes as small as 5 picoliters. Black printer ink droplets are a minimum size of 15 picoliters.

Documents are printed with a detailed and crisp resolution of up to 2400x1200 dpi using DesignJet 4020 ink. Full color and black-and-white pages print at an approximate rate of 25 seconds per page on A1 paper. Media handling features include a manual single-sheet paper feed, manual roll feed and an automatic cutter as a finishing option. Supported paper types include bond, coated, film, photo, self-adhesive, banner and proofing paper.

The 4020 comes with a built-in memory of 608 MB that is upgradable to a maximum of 1120 MB for those that want to expand their printing volume. With its embedded web server, the 4020 enables remote print management and will allow users to preview print jobs and save documents to print at a later time. The 4020 is equipped with features and networking capabilities that make it a great inkjet printer for advertising companies, architects and other offices with wide-format needs.
