HP 4000 Printer Review

The HP LaserJet 4000 laser printer is designed for the small or medium office environment. It offers fast speeds and high-quality 1200 dpi printing, but it may be a bit bulky for some spaces.

While not the bulkiest, the HP 4000 laser printer does tend to be a little larger than others in its class. The unit measures 13.5 inches by 15.4 inches by 19.4 inches (HWD) and weighs 39.2 pounds, so it is at least fairly easy to move around, but its size will prohibit it from fitting into tight spaces. The standard model comes with 4 MB of memory, which should be enough for a single user, and the 4000N and 4000TN versions come with networking built in and 8 MB of memory. This is a smart design decision, as the unit will need more memory to support multiple network users. The memory can be further upgraded to as much as 100 MB as needed. Other models include the 4000t and 4000se which include extra paper capacity and finishing options.

Setting up the unit is extremely easy. Simply unpack, install toner cartridges, connect cables, and run the software installation process. The driver software is very intuitive as well, and offers easy access to all the necessary features and functions. The software is also able to automatically update, making less work for the user.

Paper capacity is quite generous for its price range, with 500 sheets in the main drawer, and 100 sheets in a multipurpose tray. The machine can handle up to 8.5 x 14 inch media. Maximum monthly duty cycle is 65,000 pages, so the machine can handle quite a high volume of printing. Print speed is a respectable 17 pages per minute, and should be fast enough to support a fair number of network users. Print quality is excellent, as the unit uses a 1200 dpi printing engine for sharp images.

HP LaserJet 4000 toner cartridges have a large capacity. At 10,000 pages per cartridge, the HP 4000 toner cartridges will go a long way in a small or medium office environment. Installation for the laser toner cartridge is fairly trouble-free, as the printer toner cartridge is easily accessed from the front of the machine.

Overall, the HP LaserJet 4000 has a lot to offer for a very affordable price. Its speed and quality are both excellent, but small office users may need a more compact printer if they are short on space.

The HP LaserJet 4000 has a sharp 1200-dpi equivalent printing resolution and a top speed of 17 pages per minute. Although this may not be fast enough for larger offices, it can handle high-volume printing in a smaller environment. The standard paper capacity of 600 sheets is a good start for small offices, and it can be upgraded to a maximum of 1,100 sheets.

Make sure the printer is on, and raise the cover for access to the HP 4000 toner cartridge. Grip its handle and pull it out of the opening.

Prepare the new LaserJet 4000 cartridge by removing it from the box, the packing materials, and the bag. Tilt it back and forth several times to redistribute the toner inside, then pull the packing tape away from the cartridge until it is completely removed.

Line up the new HP 4000 cartridge in the opening, and slide it into place, giving it a firm press until it settles completely. You can then close the lid.
